DISPOSAL OF USED OIL & LUBRICANTS
The Shahabad Co-operative Sugar Mills Ltd., Shahabad has achieved the authorization of being allowed to recycle/dispose off its used oil/lubricant which was earlier done through authorized recyclers which used to cost a lot. The Shahabad Co-op. Sugar Mill is the only co-op. sugar mills among Haryana Co-op. Sugar Mills who have developed/designed its own system of disposal of used oil and lubricants which has been accepted and approved by the Pollution Control Board of Haryana. This achievement has been appreciated by Haryana State Federation of Coop. Sugar Mills Ltd., Panchkula also.
BAGASSE DRYING SYSTEM
The Shahabad Cooperative Sugar Mills has developed its own design of Bagasse Drying System which reduces moisture contents of Bagasse thereby increasing its calorific value. This system has been later adopted by quite a few other mills in Haryana Coop. & even in some Mills in Gujarat & Karnataka.
SUGAR BAG CONVEYING TRANSPORTATION
The sugar bag conveying/transportation was also modified with bare minimum cost to reduce human effort & improve efficiency.
MAGNETIC SEPARATION SYSTEM
A very low cost magnetic separation system was designed and implemented to remove traces of rusted iron from sugar so as to improve quality.
CONSUMPTION OF CHEMICAL
Consumption of chemicals like sulphur and lime has been brought down from .085% & .29% last year to .074% & .22% this year thereby saving approximately Rs.25 lacs.
HEATING OF R.O.MAKE-UP WATER
An indigenous system was designed and put into operation for heating of R.O. make up water supplied to the boiler. This heating was achieved from the heat of the effluent gases. Thus gaining a temperature rise from 200 C to atleast 800 C. This has helped in reducing the fuel consumption though marginally but without any recurring cost.
SYSTEM OF COUNTING OF SUGAR BAGS
Serial no. tags were introduced for the counting of sugar bag produced. Earlier these serial numbers were written manually which had a scope of error and also required more man-power. Now printed tags are stitched on to the sugar bags. This saves human effort and reduces the possibility of error, without any increase in the bagging cost.
VAPOUR EXTRACTION SYSTEM
Vapour extraction system at the Centrifugal station in the Manufacturing House was improved and improvised to ensure better efficiency, this has resulted in reducing the moist lumps in the produced sugar there by reducing the recirculation and improving the process efficiency.
